Chris Connors concentrates in complex commercial litigation, bankruptcy litigation, and governmental investigations. His experience includes representing clients in connection with federal and state court litigation as well as investigations initiated by government entities, such as the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Department of Justice. He has represented companies in a variety of industries, including automotive, general merchandise retail, office supply retail, food and beverage manufacturing, foodservice, real estate, and equipment rental and leasing. Many of Mr. Connors' cases have involved complex disputes, commercial contracts and leases, securities laws, fraud, and a variety of bankruptcy-related matters. Before joining Butzel Long Tighe Patton in 2010, Mr. Connors worked for seven years as an associate at Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom in Chicago. At Skadden, he was on the litigation team that represented firm clients, such as Delphi Corporation and Kmart Corporation, in connection with a variety of contested matters, adversary proceedings, and claims matters related to their Chapter 11 reorganization cases. He also was on the Skadden team that represented firm clients in connection with investigations by the Securities and Exchange Commission into alleged accounting irregularities and improper business practices, including General Mills, Inc. and OfficeMax, Inc. In addition, he was part of the team of Skadden attorneys that represented Daimler AG in connection with discrete aspects of investigations by the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Department of Justice under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Mr. Connors has served as an assistant state's attorney in Lake County, Illinois, where he tried numerous criminal matters. He served as a law clerk for Chief Judge J. Phil Gilbert of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois. Mr. Connors received a B.A. degree from the University of Illinois and graduated magna cum laude from Loyola University of Chicago Law School, where he served on the Law Journal and was a Thomas L. Owens Scholar. He serves on the boards of a number of non-profit and charitable organizations. |
